Wu-Tang Latino, Ray Acosta’s attempt at a strictly Latino label run by Latinos, succeeded in landing car manufacturer Honda as a sponsor for their first music video, “Mamita Ven” by Los Yo Yais.
Honda broke the ice as it became the first automobile company to sponsor a Latino label. The universally-known car giant agreed to debut their new line of 2006 Honda Civics in the video.
“We are going to make history," stated Ray Acosta. ''Los Yo Yais are an incredible talent who are bringing a refreshing, soulful ingredient to reggaeton. Honda recognizes that and they understand our legacy as Wu-Tang and have decided to join us in making this video. In turn they will be able to showcase their new line of vehicles to an important and growing demographic. With Honda backing this project it will allow us to create a mini-movie and take reggaeton music videos to whole new level. We are happy to be pioneering this movement and hopefully this will open up doors for corporate sponsorships of urban-Latin-based music."
The video plot was set as a fun, exciting mini-flick painting a portrait of the artists, Shown Black and NP Killa, as street soldiers of a mafia boss, played by Acosta. The team, along with the boss’s two nieces, will followed by the cameras while taking a longer-than-should-have tour through New York City, consequently making the boss unhappy.
The “Mamita Ven” music video, directed by Edwin Decena, will include special appearances of Wu-Tang artists, such as The RZA.
Morehiphop.com was fortunate to land spots at the video shoot to begin
Oct. 22 in New York City. Stay tuned for a feature, along with exclusive
photos, covering the long-awaited event.
