Wu Latino Reggae-Tones Things Up With New Video By Stacy Christoforidis

It seems that the new trend for record labels is to give birth to a special
section geared directly to Latinos. Take Bad Boy Latino, Roc La Familia, and
now, Wu-Tang Latino. The recent launch of Wu Latino marked a step up for
Latinos in the reggaeton movement. The Latino-owned record label, an attempt
to combine two music genres in unique collaborations, is the creation of Ray
Acosta, former VP of Musica Latina and Marketing at UBO. Acosta teamed up
with Wu-Tang’s RZA to bring East coast music together with West coast flavor
in a fusion between hip hop and reggaeton, or “Latin hip hop reggaeton” as
Acosta calls it.

Wu Latino’s Los Yo Yais, made up of Shown Black and NP Killah, came out from
the underground and hit mainstream market with “Mamita Ven.” Signed to Wu
Latino in May 2005, the group sets itself aside from the usual underground
reggaeton duos as it is a tasteful combination of NP Killah’s aggressive
lyrics and Shown Black’s soft, melodic voice. Los Yo Yais are bound to add
new sounds, far from those already existent, to the urban hip hop and
reggaeton market.

During the last few weeks of October, Los Yo Yais were shooting their first
music video for the hit single, “Mamita Ven.” In addition to being Wu
Latino’s first video release, “Mamita Ven” made history as it became the
first Latino video to be sponsored by major car-manufacturer Honda. Honda
will be showcasing their 2006 line of Civics throughout the video.

The sweet combination of Los Yo Yais, good music, a unique storyline,
beautiful ladies and nice automobiles makes this video an upcoming Latino
chart-topper. MH2 has exclusive photos from the video shoot.
